Building the Infrastructure Behind Residential Apartment Communities

When people think about residential apartment construction and renovation, they usually picture the finished product—new kitchens, bathrooms, flooring, windows and living spaces. But some of the most important work happens underground and out of sight.

At CMR General Contracting, our work can begin well before the interior construction starts. That includes building and upgrading the water infrastructure necessary to serve residential apartment buildings safely and reliably.

The video from one of our projects currently underway provides a great example. Before new water infrastructure can be installed, our team has to create the path for it. Here, that means substantial excavation alongside the existing residential building, creating a deep, carefully prepared trench through challenging soil and rocky conditions.

This type of work is about much more than digging a trench. Water infrastructure for multifamily residential properties requires careful planning and coordination. The route has to account for the existing building, site conditions, elevations, utility connections and the other infrastructure already serving the property. Once the underground work is completed, the site also has to be properly backfilled and restored.

For apartment owners, property managers and housing authorities, this infrastructure is especially important. A residential building is only as dependable as the systems supporting it. Aging, undersized or deteriorating water infrastructure can eventually affect an entire property and its residents.

That is why CMRGC approaches these projects as part of the larger construction picture. We can coordinate the site work and infrastructure with the other phases of a renovation or improvement project, helping owners avoid the complications that come from treating every portion of the job as an unrelated project.

The work shown in this video may eventually disappear beneath the ground, but what replaces it will remain an essential part of the property for years to come.

At CMR General Contracting, we don’t just work on the apartments you can see. We build the infrastructure that helps make those apartments possible.
